Dr. Hegland speaks at 2016 Annual Parkinson’s Disease Educational Symposium

Dr HeglandSLHS faculty members Dr. Karen Hegland (right) and Ms. Julie Hicks gave an invited talk on the importance of reflex cough function at the annual Parkinson’s disease educational symposium. Dr. Hegland, whose research focuses on airway protective disorders in neurodegenerative disease, shared recent research findings, and Ms. Hicks spoke about the procedures associated with airway protection assessment, as well as management options. The symposium is a great opportunity for clinicians and researchers to share the latest information regarding the management of Parkinson’s disease with patients and their caregivers.
