Research Interests
The overarching focus of my research is to understand mechanisms of induced plasticity and to couple neuroplasticity with CNS repair. My primary focus is on spinal cord injury and the spinal networks controlling breathing. I have extensive expertise in in vivo whole nerve recording, plethysmography, electromyography, spinal cord stimulation, immunohistochemistry, in vivo RNA interference, and stem cell/olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation, which I want to apply to the investigation of such therapeutic strategies as neuromodulation, neurotransplantation, and neurotrophin-based repair and rehabilitation.
