The research in Dr. Judy’s laboratory that is pertinent to the Center of Respiratory Research and Rehabilitation is the development of advanced neural-interface technology and systems. Significant advances in the understanding of the respiration and airway-protection control systems should be enabled through the use of neural interfaces uniquely designed for each of the key neuroanatomical targets inthose systems. With such neurotechnology-enabled scientific insight, it may be possible to also develop neuromodulative therapeutic strategies that can address critical respiration - related healthchallenges.
